Mozambican top-flight Mocambola League side Uniao Desportiva do (UD) Songo has confirmed the appointment of former Mighty Mukuru Wanderers head coach Mark Harrison for a similar role.

UD Songo is the club which Flames captain John ‘CJ’ Banda plays for.

The Briton resigned from Wanderers a fortnight ago after a frustrating season that saw the Nomads finishing without any silverware.

A statement from UD Songo expressed management’s delight at Harrison’s appointment, which signals a new chapter in his extensive coaching career.

Reads the statement in part: “The management of UD Songo would like to inform all sponsors, partners, supporters and the media about the signing of head coach Mark Harrison, [an] expert in African football with passages across South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Malawi and Botswana.”

The former Gor Mahia, Golden Arrows, Black Leopards, Township Rollers, Caps United and Harare City coach, could not be reached for comment yesterday.

But in an interview soon after stepping down, he said he had no regrets what-so-ever parting ways with the Lali Lubani Road outfit.

Wanderers initially hired him as technical director, but he was offered the coaching role following the departure of Alex Ngwira.
